Scotland’s most prestigious legal event, The Scottish Legal Awards, has announced the winner of its Managing Partner of the Year in advance of its 19th annual celebrations in Glasgow next week.

Tamar Tammes, the Managing Partner of Burness Paull, one of Scotland’s largest independent law firms, is to receive the award, sponsored by Scott + Co,  in recognition of her successful strategic leadership of the firm which employs over 600 staff and 86 partners in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

The decision comes as Ms Tammes reaches the midpoint of her second three-year term as Managing Partner at Burness Paull. The firm also recently announced its annual results which showed further growth of 7% in profits to £35.7m in the year ending July 2022.

Next week she will accept the award among 17 other winning businesses, teams and individuals in the annual awards celebration which recognises the best of Scottish legal practice across the country. The independent programme is chaired by former CEO of the Law Society of Scotland, Lorna Jack. She commented;

Burness Paull has stacked an impressive range of accolades in the wellness at work area. It was the first Scottish independent law firm to sign up to the Mindful Business Charter and has also appointed a full-time Respect and Inclusion Manager. The firm was praised for bring the first organization in Scotland to achieve menopause friendly accreditation and has also launched a ‘BeMentored’ scheme which facilitates confidential coaching relationships between lawyers across different areas of the firm.

The 19th annual Scottish Legal Awards takes place on Thursday 22 September in Glasgow.
